Upon successful completion, participants receive a Highfield Award in First Aid at Work (SCQF Level 6), a nationally recognized qualification. This training ensures participants are confident in handling workplace emergencies, maintaining safety and well-being on site.

What Does the First Aid Course Cover?
This comprehensive course includes:
- Life-Saving Techniques: Assess emergencies, perform CPR, and use an AED.
- Urgent Care: Manage unresponsive casualties, control bleeding, and assist choking individuals.
- Common Injuries: Treat burns, minor injuries, and assess bone, joint, and head injuries.
- Critical Incidents: Respond to eye injuries, poisoning, anaphylaxis, and major illnesses.
- Record-Keeping: Conduct secondary surveys and maintain incident records.
Duration & Entry Requirements
The First Aid at Work course combines online and in-person learning:
- Format: 5-6 hours of online modules followed by two days of hands-on practice (9:00 am – 5:00 pm).
- Eligibility: Must be 16+ with basic language proficiency; no other requirements.
Assessment
The qualification is assessed through:
- Practical Assessment: Ongoing skill evaluations during the course.
- Theory Assessment: A 30-question multiple-choice test, requiring a 70% score to pass. Additional oral questioning is available if needed.
Certification
Successful participants receive a Highfield Award in First Aid at Work (SCQF Level 6), recognized nationally and valid for three years. Regular refreshers are recommended to keep skills up-to-date and ensure preparedness for emergencies.
