Course Overview
Are you interested in a career as a Door Supervisor in the private security industry? The Door Supervisor training course equips you with the essential knowledge and skills needed for the role.
Upon successful completion, you’ll be eligible to apply for a front-line SIA Door Supervisor licence. With this licence, you can work in a variety of locations including hotels, bars, nightclubs, music venues, events, construction sites, and shopping centres.
As a Door Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in ensuring safety and security while providing excellent customer service. Your presence helps to maintain a positive environment and contributes to a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
What Does the Door Supervisor Course Cover?
The Door Supervisor Course includes four core units:
- Working within the Private Security Industry.
- Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry.
- Conflict Management within the Private Security Industry.
- Physical Intervention Skills within the Private Security Industry.

How Long is the Door Supervisor Course and What Are the Entry Requirements?
The Door Supervisor Course is a classroom-based training program conducted over six full days, from 9 am to 6 pm. To enroll in the course, participants must meet the following requirements:
- Be aged 18 or over.
- Possess sufficient reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills to communicate effectively.
First Aid Requirement:
Do I need to have a First Aid Certificate for the Door Supervisor Course?
Yes, it’s a requirement by the SIA that learners have a current and valid First Aid or Emergency First Aid certificate. You must provide your certificate before the training begins, and it should be valid for at least 12 months from the start of the course. If you don’t have a First Aid qualification, we offer First Aid training that you can book through us.
Assessment
How is the Door Supervisor Course Assessed?
The course is assessed through a combination of multiple-choice exams and practical assessments. Each of the four units has its own assessment method. To pass the course, learners must achieve a minimum score of 70% on Units 1, 2, and 3, and 80% on Unit 4.
Practical assessments for Units 3 (Conflict Management) and 4 (Physical Intervention) are visually recorded. Each learner should allocate approximately 15 minutes for their practical assessment.
Certification
What Will I Receive After Successful Completion?
Upon successful completion, you will receive the HABC Award for Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry (Scotland) at SCQF Level 6.
This qualification is officially recognized and supported by the Security Industry Authority (SIA). Once certified, you can apply for an SIA Door Supervisor Licence and begin working as a qualified Door Supervisor across the United Kingdom.
